Aligners in Ooty
Clear aligners are a sequence of removable, near-invisible trays that move teeth in small planned steps. At RC's Dentcare in Ooty, we assess suitability first — aligners handle mild to moderate crowding, spacing and relapse well, while some bite corrections are still better served by fixed braces.

Why people ask for aligners
The appeal is obvious: no brackets in photographs, nothing to interfere with a professional life, and trays that come out for meals. For adults who declined braces as teenagers, aligners are often what finally makes treatment feel possible.
That appeal is real. It just is not the whole picture.
The part the advertising leaves out
Aligners only work while they are in your mouth. The planned movement assumes around twenty to twenty-two hours of wear a day, and a tray sitting in a case on your desk moves nothing. Patients who wear them inconsistently end up with trays that no longer seat, and the sequence has to be re-planned.
Suitability matters too. Certain rotations, significant bite corrections and some extraction cases are more predictable with fixed appliances. We will say so rather than sell you a plan that under-delivers.
What treatment looks like here
We confirm suitability at consultation, then take scans or impressions used to plan each stage of movement digitally. You receive trays in sequence and change them at the interval we set, coming in periodically so we can check the teeth are tracking to plan.
At the end there is usually a refinement stage to settle the details, followed by retention — the same as with braces.
If you want to know whether aligners can realistically achieve what you have in mind, the assessment is the quickest way to find out.

Aligners in Ooty — common questions
- How many hours a day must aligners be worn?
- Around twenty to twenty-two hours. They come out for eating and drinking anything other than water, and for cleaning.
- Are aligners suitable for every case?
- No. They work well for mild to moderate crowding, spacing and relapse. Complex bite corrections may still be better treated with fixed braces, and we will tell you at the assessment.
- Do aligners hurt?
- There is usually pressure and mild tenderness for a day or two after changing to a new tray. Most people find it milder than a braces adjustment.
- Can I whiten my teeth while wearing aligners?
- Whitening is normally done after alignment finishes, so the shade is even across teeth in their final positions.
