Smile Designing in Ooty
Smile designing is a planning process, not a single procedure. It analyses facial proportion, tooth shape and size, gum contour and bite, then sequences the treatments — which may include whitening, alignment, bonding, veneers or crowns — needed to reach an agreed result. RC's Dentcare in Ooty carries out this analysis before any irreversible work begins.

A smile is more than a row of white teeth
People arrive with a photograph and a request: make my teeth look like this. What makes that photograph work, though, is rarely the whiteness. It is the midline sitting under the nose, the upper edges following the curve of the lower lip, and the two front teeth being fractionally longer than the ones beside them.
Change those proportions without planning and the result reads as artificial even when every individual tooth is perfect.
Why unplanned cosmetic work disappoints
The most common cosmetic failures we see were not badly made. They were badly sequenced — veneers placed over untreated gum inflammation, crowns fitted before a bite problem was corrected, or whitening done after restorations so the shades no longer match.
Redoing that work costs more than planning it properly the first time, and each redo removes a little more tooth.
How we design a smile here
We record facial and dental proportions with photographs and clinical measurements, then propose a combination of treatments with the trade-offs of each stated openly. Where clinically appropriate we use mock-ups or trials so you can see the direction before committing.
Treatment is then delivered in sequence with a review at each stage. Function, gum health and the ability to clean around the restorations are considered throughout — a smile that looks good but cannot be maintained is not a good outcome.
Tell us what you would change about your smile and we will assess what is realistically achievable.

Smile Designing in Ooty — common questions
- Is smile designing one treatment?
- No. It is a planning process that may combine whitening, orthodontics, bonding, veneers, crowns or gum treatment depending on what your case needs.
- Can I see the result before committing?
- In many cases yes, through mock-ups or trial restorations. We will tell you what is realistic to preview in your case.
- Does it always mean cutting down teeth?
- No. We start with the most conservative option that will achieve the goal — often that is alignment, whitening and bonding rather than crowns.
- How long does a smile makeover take?
- Anything from a few weeks for conservative work to over a year if orthodontics is part of the plan. The sequence is set out at the planning stage.
